Why this recipe works

Soft and creamy on the inside with a crispy panko breadcrumb exterior, these air fryer avocado fries are bound to be your new favorite snack.

You can slice almost any vegetable and turn them into fries, take our air fryer jalapeno fries or air fryer zucchini fries for example. Air fryer avocado fries aren’t necessarily a new recipe, but they’re certainly a unique twist to add to your appetizer spread that’s healthier than deep-fried french fries.

Ingredient Info and Substitution Suggestions

AVOCADO – You actually want to use firm avocados to make these fries, so save the soft avocados for a batch of guacamole. You don’t want underripe avocados, nor do you want them to be soft – a good in-between of the two is what we are going for. Look for firm avocados with a slight give when gently squeezed. You need to be able to rely on their structural integrity for dipping into the breading.

Frequently Asked Questions & Expert Tips

How do you slice an avocado?

Begin by slicing the avocado in half lengthwise, cutting through until you reach the pit, then gently drag your knife around the entire avocado until you are able to pull the two sides apart. You’ll want to twist the avocado gently to wedge it away from the pit. Remove the pit. Place the avocado halves cut side down on a cutting board and peel the skin – you can also use a spoon to loosen the skin around the flesh. Place avocado flat side down on the cutting board and cut into 1/2-inch slices. We sliced horizontally, but you can also cut vertically for longer fries.

How do you store leftovers?

Air fryer avocado fries are best served right away, but you can store any leftovers in an air-tight container kept in the refrigerator for up to 1 day. Reheat using the reheat function on the air fryer.
